I embrace teaching as an opportunity to inspire and create life
long learners. As a teacher, it is my goal to enhance student
learning as a transformative experience and a continuously
enriching process of ongoing growth. Ideally, I want students
to feel that they can, and will be successful, that even if they encounter boundaries they can see them as an opportunity to challenge, learn, grow and move beyond them. This allows
learners to transform, to grow, to change, reason why the
words "I can't" aren't allowed, instead I encourage students
to put forth their personal best efforts and use the words
"I will try my best".
We all learn best in different ways and at our own pace, reason
why understanding the diversity of learning styles and student experiences is key to enhancing student growth and engagement.
The process by which I work to stimulate these are unique to each individual. That is why we will not always be working on the same
thing in the same way. Students are encouraged to learn by doing
and to interact with one another, sometimes we will be working as
a whole group, in small groups or with a partner. Sometimes we will
be working individually or with a teacher, inside or outside the classroom.
A teacher can often inspire students' desire to learn, that is why learning about the students I teach and listening to and observing
their needs and experiences has helped me to consider and
reconsider on ways of making my teaching relevant, fostering good habits, providing opportunities for developing critical thinking and
social skills, inspiring values, cultivating curiosity and finding the
most effective ways of stimulating and sustaining intellectual
growth.
I believe it is crucial for teachers to create an environment
where all of this growing, changing and learning takes place.
Where students feel valued and free to take risks and make
choices, where tools are provided to become flexible problem
solvers in preparation for adult lives. An environment where
appropriate positive reinforcers exist that facilitate learning and establish acceptable behavior within and outside the classroom,
for positive behaviors are just as essential as learning the
curriculum.
That is why our classroom is a very special place, for it is also
a place characterized by safety, security, nurturance, and love.
Our classroom climate, school routines and rituals, modes of
teaching, and children's ways of learning are all guided by a spirit
of family-like affection.
I am passionate about finding the most effective ways of
stimulating and sustaining students' education, as well as
cultivating an environment in which my students look forward
to coming to each day.
