The purpose of class rules and discipline procedure is to provide an environment promoting mutual respect that is safe, orderly, and conducive to learning. Positive reinforcement for appropriate behavior is also an integral part of this discipline program.
Class Rules:
1.Stay in your seat.
2.Walk at all times.
3.Raise your hand to speak.
4.Hands are for helping not hurting.
5.Be kind with your words and actions.
6.Come to school on time and prepared. Includes folder, materials and homework.
7.Wear your uniform every day.
Individual Rewards: Piggy Bank
1.Excellent conduct / improvement = one penny in piggy bank. After ten pennies child will be able to exchange pennies for prizes.
2.Positive praise for following the rules.
3.Stickers, treats, etc.
Individual Consequences: Piggy Bank
1.The student breaks one rule. He / she is given a reminder. The teacher tells the student what rule they have broken or asks the student what rule they have broken.
2.The student receives a second reminder. He / she will have a time out to think about what rule has been broken and how they will change their behavior + subtract one penny from piggy bank. 3.The student receives a third reminder. He / she will receive a lunch detention + subtract one penny from piggy bank.
4.The student misses three assignments in one week. He / she will receive office referral + homework-lunch detention + subtract one penny from piggy bank.
5.A conference may be set up with parents and professional team to work out a plan that will modify the student's behavior.
*** If a child's behavior is so severe that it endangers other students or he / she is out of control and needs to be removed from the classroom immediately, the above steps may be skipped. The child would then be sent immediately to the principal.
Group Rewards: Traffic Light
1.Excellent conduct = green light + a link is added to the "Class Act Chain". Once the chain extends from the ceiling to the floor, the class will have a party: pizza, popcorn, ice cream, etc.)
2.Positive praise for following the rules.
3.Stickers, treats, etc.
Group Consequences: Traffic Light
1.First group warning = teacher tells students what rule they have broken + continue on green light + a link is added to the "Class Act Chain"
2.Second group warning = rule broken is reviewed + yellow light (no link is added).
3.Third warning = red light (a link is subtracted from the chain).
