Dear Parents,
Welcome to the 2007 - 2008 school year! My name is Anabella Santacoloma, and I am very happy to be your child's first grade
teacher! This will be an exciting year for all of us as we begin a
new school year at A.I.S. I am looking forward to a year full of
learning and fun. I am also deeply grateful to have the
opportunity to work with all of you and your new first graders.
We will all be learning, making discoveries, and experiencing
new things together.
To tell you a little about myself, I was born in Venezuela. At
the age of three, my family moved to Florida for a couple of
years, and when I finished my first grade we moved to Costa
Rica. I have been living here ever since. I started my second
year of elementary at Costa Rica Academy (former A.I.S) and concluded my high school studies at A.I.S. I am a certified
teacher in Costa Rica and have been teaching for seven years
at our school. I taught Kindergarten for the first four years,
this being my fourth year teaching First Grade. Before teaching
at A.I.S., I worked a few years with children at a prestigious
Day Care. I would also like to welcome Ms. Noylin to our class.
She will be helping us with many things!
This is the second year I will be using this website. I believe it is
a great method of communication with you. I will be updating
this site monthly so that you can stay in touch with what we
are doing and the happenings at our school. This will not be my
only means of communication. I will be sending notes, letters and
reminders home periodically, as well as contacting you by phone.
Throughout this web site you will find some important information
for a smooth year. I hope it will answer some of the questions
you may have about first grade. Please take some time to read
my philosophy, as it will give you a good indication of my hopes
and expectations for the year. Look around our site and let me
know what you think! I will be putting some of the children's
work up very soon!
Your child will need to bring some supplies in to school. Please
check the supply list on this site. You may also want to check
our classroom procedures, it will give you a better idea of what
your child will be needing for each school day.
In addition, we need the support of our parents. Please know
that parents and teachers are partners in a child's education.
It is important that we communicate openly and honestly with
one another. Don't forget to talk to your child about their day
and make sure that they are feeling confident and happy.
